Glazed Sweet And Spicy Tofu

For 2 servings you need:
1/2 block (7 oz/200g) super firm or extra firm tofu
A pinch of salt and white pepper
1/2 tbsp neutral cooking oil (optional)

Tofu and Noodle Sauce:
2 tbsp dark soy sauce
1 tbsp coconut aminos or light soy sauce
2 tbsp brown sugar or maple syrup
1 tbsp chili paste
1 tbsp vegetarian oyster sauce (optional)
1 tbsp rice vinegar

Noodles of choice (like Udon)
Mixed stir fried vegetables (like broccoli, carrots, mushroom, zucchini, scallion, garlic)

Cut tofu into desired shape (I chose triangles), pat it dry with a kitchen or paper towel, and season lightly with salt and pepper.
Whisk together all ingredients for the sauce.
Heat up a cast iron skillet, and pan fry the tofu pieces until golden for about 3-4 minutes each side (depending on your preference/pan use a small drizzle of cooking oil).
Lower the heat and glaze tofu with a few tbsp of the sauce. Stir carefully until both sides are coated and caramelized.
Serve over Noodle Veggie Stir-fry, and enjoy!

  1. I’m going to try something similar substituting miso for some of the coconut aminos. Your meal looks absolutely restaurant quality but of course it’s better being oil free !!
